Can you call 911 for being very suicidal / or for overdosing?

If you call 911 and state you are attempting suicide by whatever means, an ambulance will respond depending on the information you give the dispatcher. If you feel you are a danger to yourself or others, then the police can put you on a 5150 hold which automatically results in a non-voluntary 72 psychiatric hold and evaluation.
