How to get non-professional blonde hair?

I have gingery/brownish hair and although I looove my hair colour I am at the age where I want to go experiment with different colours. I want to slightly tint my hair, so I have honey running through but my natural hair running through also. Is there any way I could achieve this look non-professionally and if so, with what products?
